WB-City Resilience Program: Terrain deformation in urban areas

The World Bank´s City Resilience Program (CRP) is aimed at empowering cities to pursue a resilient future. EO4SD-DRR has collaborated with CRP throughout the provision of systematic terrain deformation analysis over several cities in a short period of time.

Demonstration exercise: Terrain deformation in urban areas

Countries of application: Banjul (The Gambia), Barishal (Bangladesh), Beira (Mozambique), Cap Haitien (Haiti), Georgetown (Guyana), Khulna (Bangladesh), Paramaribo (Suriname), Vinh Long (Vietnam), Yangon (Myanmar).

Service providers: BRGM (FR, Bureau de Recherches Géologiques et Minières), Gisat (CZE) and Planetek (IT)

Services provided: GEP-based terrain deformation analysis (BRGM) and Detailed terrain deformation analysis (Planetek) and Detailed terrain deformation analysis and exposure mapping (Gisat)

Main user: The World Bank´s City Resilience Program (CRP)

Area of interest: 8.659,31 Km2 within the cities of Banjul, Barishal, Beira, Cap Haitien, Georgetown, Khulna, Paramaribo, Vinh Long and Yangon.
